Women are under-represented in postgraduate geography. Initially, it i
s argued that this situation is unjust and reflects unequal opportunit
ies for women. After describing the potentials and limitations of data
sources. the paper uses official statistics to examine gendered parti
cipation in postgraduate geography in Britain through time, within geo
graphy and between geography and related academic disciplines. Finally
, the paper suggests ways in which the under-representation of women i
n postgraduate geography can be overcome.
