Abstract
Adopting and diffusing new technology, creating user awareness and man aging organizational innovation effectively are major tasks for contem porary organizations. Tn large-scale organizations, with centralized i nformation technology (IT) environments, the tasks of technology evalu ation, IT change and diffusion require considerable coordinating effor ts. The article recounts the experience of a large-scale public organi zation in managing work-process innovation and the adoption of IT opti ons that could be adequately cost-justified. Such options need, at lea st, to encourage users to simultaneously learn to utilize IT to improv e current practices and to embrace entirely new functions.
