Abstract
Flavobacterium dehydrogenans growth, carotenoid production and substra te uptake models are obtained as a function of initial glucose concent ration. A substrate-inhibited Monod model appears to be adequate to de scribe microbial growth kinetic. From kinetic data analysis, we can co nclude that yeast extract is consumed by the bacterium before glucose. Electron balance allows us to be sure that maintenance is negligible during microbial growth. Carotenoid production is not directly related to growth.
