The EuLA (European Lime Association) founded in 1990 represents the co
mmon interests of the European producers of lime and limestone product
s in the fields of technology, standardization, and environmental and
economic policies. The secretariat of the EuLA is run at the offices o
f the Bundesverband der Deutschen Kalkindustrie e. V. (Federal Associa
tion of the German Lime Industry) in Cologne. The Belgian member assoc
iation also operates as the liaison office with the EU committees in B
russels. The number of EuLA member countries has increased to 17 now t
hat the Polish Cement and Lime Association and the Cement and Lime Pro
ducers Associations of the Czech and Slovak Republics have joined. The
European Lime Association has statutory links with the ILA (Internati
onal Lime Association) which currently has 27 members worldwide. The E
uLA is holding its second European Technical Conference in Cologne on
23/24th October 1996 at which 20 technical lectures will deal with the
topics of environmental legislation, lime production, and the use of
lime in environmental protection.
