C. Katlama et M. Jouan, PROPHYLAXIS FOR OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS IN PATIENTS WITH HUMAN-IMMUNODEFICIENCY-VIRUS, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 26(8-9), 1996, pp. 742-751
Primary chemoprophylaxis has been approved to prevent infections with
Pneumocystis carinii, Toxoplasma gondi and Mycobacterium avium complex
in patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus. The role of o
ther prophylaxis is uncertain. Drug interaction and costs emphazise th
e need of ''multiple opportunistic pathogen prophylaxis'' against freq
uent and severe infections.
