Bacterial endocarditis is rare in pediatric patients but remains life-
threatening. The frequency and severity of valvular amputations often
result in critical hemodynamic alterations. Susceptibility of the caus
ative agent to antimicrobials is a key factor. A case of subacute endo
carditis in an 11-year-old boy is reported. Right-sided hemiplegia was
the first manifestation. Heart failure due to infarction of the right
cardiac chambers occurred under antimicrobial therapy, and the outcom
e was fatal.
