We investigate how the choice of the magnetization distribution inside
a sample affects its interaction with an external electromagnetic hel
d. Strong selectivity to the time-dependence of the external electroma
gnetic field arising for particular magnetizations suggests that it ca
n be used for storage and ciphering of information. We propose a time-
dependent Aharonov-Bohm like experiment in which the time-dependence o
f the interference picture is due to the time variation of the magneti
c flux confined to the excluded region. The arising time-dependent int
erference picture may be viewed as a new channel for information trans
fer. Examples are given of current configurations generating static el
ectric fields adequately described by an electric vector potential rat
her than by a scalar one.
