Abstract
The TaTe103- anion of the title compound, (C24H20P)(3)[TaTe10].C3H7NO, consists of an extended 'birdcage' of Te atoms containing an intersti tial Ta atom. The Ta atom is seven-coordinate, with Ta-Te distances ra nging from 2.753 (3) to 2.870 (3) Angstrom, arranged in a distorted ca pped trigonal prism geometry.
