Abstract
We consider the possibility of velocity selection of atomic beams thro ugh the formation of laser-induced continuum. It is demonstrated that the degree of monochromatization, which is defined as the ratio of the width of the initial velocity distribution to the width of the final distribution, may be as high as 10(3).
