A SUMMARY EVALUATION OF THE 1995 GEWISOLA MEETING IN BERLIN

In October 1955 the 36th annual meeting of the Gesellschaft fur Wirtsc hafts- und Sozialwissenschaften des Landbaus e.V. (GEWISOLA) took plac e at the Humboldt-University Berlin. The paper summarises the main res ults of the meeting. The theme of the meeting was: ''Structural develo pments in agriculture and agricultural policy''. Structural changes in the agricultural sector mark a large problem area for science, politi cs, and farmers. Such structural changes Ire influenced by social goal s and framework conditions. Apparently, the relationship between agric ultural structures and policies is different among regions. However, f armers must adjust to specific requirements of structural change and d evelop appropriate adjustment strategies. Beyond the meeting's theme p apers on specific topics could be presented in Berlin, and the meeting ended with an intensive discussion on perspectives for agricultural e conomics research and teaching.
