Abstract
The polar fractions obtained from the methanolic extract of the marine sponge Agelas longissima have been analyzed for glycosphingolipids. T he structure of the novel tetraglycosylated sphingolipid la, containin g the uncommon beta-fucofuranose, was elucidated by extensive NMR stud ies of its peracetate derivative and chemical analysis.
