STUDY ON THE RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY FOR PRESSURE-VESSELS CONTAINING DEFECTS

The new tendency in safety assessment of structures containing defects is to consider the uncertainty of parameters and abandon the worst ca se evaluation. Based on the two-criteria failure analysis method, the uncertainty of four parameters is taken into account in the present re search. A study was carried out on the reliability assessment for pres sure vessels containing defects by using the first-order second-moment (FOSM) method and the Monte-Carlo method, respectively.
