Gh. Chen et Sh. Dai, STUDY ON THE RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY FOR PRESSURE-VESSELS CONTAINING DEFECTS, International journal of pressure vessels and piping, 69(3), 1996, pp. 273-277
The new tendency in safety assessment of structures containing defects
is to consider the uncertainty of parameters and abandon the worst ca
se evaluation. Based on the two-criteria failure analysis method, the
uncertainty of four parameters is taken into account in the present re
search. A study was carried out on the reliability assessment for pres
sure vessels containing defects by using the first-order second-moment
(FOSM) method and the Monte-Carlo method, respectively. An engineerin
g case is evaluated by the two methods in detail. Copyright (C) Elsevi
