Spasskyellina mandi n. sp. (Proteocephalidea: Monticelliidae) is descr
ibed from the Siluriform fish Pimelodus ornatus Kner, 1857, caught in
the Parana River, Parana, Brazil. The new species differs from other s
pecies of the same genus mainly by a fewer number of testes and by a l
arger osmoregulatory canal. This is the second species of proteocephal
idean cestode collected in P. ornatus.
