Abstract
We investigate the application of the slave-boson method to the treatm ent of finite intersite interactions. In the saddle-point approximatio n of the formalism the results obtained with an extended Gutzwiller-ty pe local ansatz are recovered. We discuss the application of the metho d to a spinless fermion model with nearest-neighbor and long-range Cou lomb interactions, respectively.
