V. Svorcik et al., TIME-DEPENDENCE OF THE NUMBER OF UNPAIRED ELECTRONS AND THE SHEET RESISTANCE IN ION-IRRADIATED POLYMERS, Materials letters, 28(4-6), 1996, pp. 441-444
Polyethylene, polyethyleneterephthalate and polyimide were irradiated
with 150 keV Ar+ ions to the fluences of 5 x 10(14) and 1 x 10(15) cm(
-2). On the ion-beam modified polymers, the number of unpaired electro
ns and the sheet resistivity as functions of the time elapsed from the
moment of irradiation were measured using EPR and the standard two-po
int technique respectively. It is shown, on the basis of the measured
time dependences of both quantities, that only part of unpaired electr
ons (i.e. radicals) produced by ion irradiation affects electrical con
ductivity of the irradiated polymers.
