Abstract
Polyalthidin (3), a new benzopyran derivative, was isolated from the s tem bark of Polyalthia cerasoides. Its structure was established on th e basis of chemical and spectral evidence. Polyalthidin has showed pot ent biological activity as an inhibitor of the mammalian mitochondrial respiratory chain.
