Aca. Dacosta et Fp. Defranca, THE USE OF SEAWEEDS AS IMMOBILIZATION SUPPORTS FOR MICROORGANISMS USED IN CONTINUOUS CADMIUM BIOSORPTION, Biotechnology techniques, 10(10), 1996, pp. 761-766
The use of seaweeds as immobilization supports for microorganisms was
investigated in order to use the microbial species in fixed-bed reacto
rs, for the accumulation of ionic cadmium. The seaweeds, as immobiliza
tion support, also proved to participate in the biosorption process an
d making it possible the use of microorganisms in the process.
