A high resolution stratigraphic cross-section of the Bathonian-Callovi
an is reconstructed from the Paris Basin to the Subalpine Basin. The c
ross-section (650 km) is built from a total of 50 wells and exposed se
ctions, by correlating genetic units that allows biostratigraphically-
constrained time-lines through lithologies and depositional environmen
ts to be traced. The cross-section shows: 1) a flexural vs block-tilti
ng control on stratal geometries; 2) block-controlled carbonate-produc
ing areas as well as non-synchronous carbonate drownings; 3) a composi
te carbonate Burgundy platform; 4) real geometries not fitting with an
y Exxon type models.
