A third species of Perulibatrachus is described from Natal, southeaste
rn South Africa. The other two species in the genus, P. elminensis and
P. rossignoli, are known only from the west coast of Africa. Peruliba
trachus kilburni differs from both species in having 19 pectoral-fin r
ays (vs 23 or 26), bony interorbital width 49.1 parts per thousand SL
(vs 108-116.3 parts per thousand), eye 145.5 parts per thousand SL (vs
75.7-83.7 parts per thousand), and distinctive color pattern, especia
lly an intense white bar between eyes and a similar white spot on uppe
r body at center of second dorsal fin. It differs from each of the des
cribed species in a number of additional characters.
