The influence of the chain conformation on the crystallization behavio
r of cold-drawn syndiotactic polypropylene (sPP) has been investigated
. The conformational and structural changes depending on drawing condi
tions and thermal treatments has been observed by x-ray diffraction, i
nfra-red spectroscopy and modulated differential scanning calorimetry.
A nucleation and crystal growth model is introduced, which explains t
he low crystallinity of cold-drawn sPP.
