Abstract
Photodegradation of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (picric acid) was studied by means of aqueous semiconductors, such as ZnO and TiO2, as photocatalys ts using both medium-pressure Hg lamp and sun light for irradiation. T esting of the catalytic efficiency was based on removal of 2,4,6-trini trophenol and decrease in chemical oxygen demand. Best results have be en achieved with ZnO. The results were verified with the H2O2/UV syste m which was also used in the study of 2,6-dinitrophenol degradation.
