APPLYING TECHNOLOGY TO MANUFACTURING COST REDUCTION

This paper sets out to describe some of the innovations and applicatio ns of technology used within the manufacturing test process for today' s telecommunications products. It concentrates specifically on test au tomation, using the introduction of the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) product into the manufacturing test process at GPT LIMITED as a case example. With the objective of continuous reduction in 'time to m arket' for all new products, concurrent working across all business fu nctions and an effective project management process for new product in troduction are essential.
