E. Koudoumas et al., HIGH-ORDER NONLINEAR-OPTICAL RESPONSE OF C-60-TOLUENE SOLUTIONS IN THE SUBPICOSECOND REGIME, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 29(20), 1996, pp. 773-778
High-order optical nonlinearities of C-60-toluene solutions were obser
ved employing the transient degenerate four-wave mixing technique usin
g 0.5 ps laser pulses at 497 nm. The intensity and fullerene concentra
tion dependence of fifth- and seventh-order signals were investigated.
The effect of the nonlinear absorption on the nonlinear optical respo
nse is examined. The ratios \chi(eff)((5))\/\x((3))\ and \chi(eff)((7)
)\/\chi(eff)((5))\ are determined to be of the order of 10(-10) cm(3)
erg(-1).
