In the present work the influence of heat treatment, especially for hi
gh temperature ageing, on the creep strength and the intercrystalline
creep damage of the iron base alloy Incoloy 800 HT (X10 Ni-CrAlTi 32 2
0 HT) is examined. For this purpose the properties and the damage beha
viour, particulary the magnitude of damage, of the preaged materials a
l two test temperatures are compared to the solution treated material
after creep failure. The results of metallographic investigations (opt
ical, SEM and TEM) were used to study the influence of long therm agei
ng on the damage and the microstructure. The damage is quantified by u
sing a damage parameter which is derived from the creep crack density
and the length.
