Abstract
A new manufacturing process was developed For the production of cocomo noglyceride sulfate (CMGS) in high yields. In this process cocomonogly ceride is sulfated with gaseous SO3 continuously to produce the desire d product. No solvent is required in the sulfation step. Sodium sulfat e, which is produced during the neutralization step after sulfation, c an be removed by using a new membrane technique. CMGS exhibits a high foaming power. In surfactant formulations its viscosity can easily be adjusted. It is very mild to the skin and shows synergistic effects in combination with alkyl polyglycosides (APG(R)).
