Abstract
A G/T substitution has been found in a 462 bp fragment produced by ran dom PCR amplification (RAPD) of genomic DNA in bleak (Alburnus alburnu s). Two bleak populations from the rivers Main and Danube were screene d for the two variants by allele-specific PCR. The allele frequencies were 0.62 and 0.31 for variant T, and 0.38 and 0.69 for variant G in t he river populations of Main and Danube, respectively. Allele frequenc ies differed significantly (P < 0.01).
