Abstract
A study was made of the densification by hot pressing of ultrafine (< 2 mu m alpha-AlB12 and Al3B48C2) powders synthesized from the elements , and of the same powders ground in a planetary mill. The optimum regi mes for obtaining almost pore-free specimens were determined, as well as the effects of iron and particle size on the kinetics of densificat ion.
