Ss. Ulyanov et al., THE APPLICATION OF SPECKLE INTERFEROMETRY FOR THE MONITORING OF BLOODAND LYMPH-FLOW IN MICROVESSELS, Lasers in medical science, 11(2), 1996, pp. 97-107
This paper presents a brief overview of several techniques developed f
or the analysis of blood microcirculation in vivo. Both theoretical an
d experimental investigations have been performed using focused Gaussi
an beams, which are diffracted by blood capillaries with diameters sli
ghtly larger than the erythrocyte. Speckle interferometry, utilizing t
he diffraction of a focused Gaussian beam, was used for the analysis o
f lymph circulation in native microvessels. The spectra of scattered i
ntensity fluctuations produced by diffraction in such capillaries are
analysed, and variations in the envelope of the spectra induced by the
influence of drugs on the lymph vessels have also been studied.
