Abstract
1. Some biochemical and pathophysiological aspects of hypochlorous aci d (a major oxidant species produced by activated white blood cells) ar e discussed. 2. Moreover, we have discussed the problem of the pharmac ological scavenging of hypochlorous acid, focusing attention on the bi ochemical tests able to study therapeutically relevant scavenging prop erties of various drugs against hypochlorous acid itself.
