Thermogravimetric studies of the Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes o
f ethanolamine functions supported on 2 mol% DVB-crosslinked polystyre
ne were carried out. The thermal stability of the polymeric ligand inc
reased on complexation with metal ions. This resulted from the formati
on of stable ring structures on complexation. Thermal stability also d
epended on the type of metal ion and followed the order: Co(II) > Cu(I
I) > Ni(II) > uncomplexed resin. The preparation of the metal complexe
s, characterisation, time course of complexation and recyclability are
