Abstract
A prospective randomised study was made of 20 patients who underwent a cromioplasty for the chronic impingement syndrome. Ten were operated o n by Neer's technique and 10 with a modification where the deltoid ori gin was spared Rehabilitation was more rapid with a better range of mo vement in the latter group. Acromioplasty with this modification offer s benefits compared with the standard procedure.
