Abstract
In the framework of a newly developed factorization formalism which is based on NRQCD, explicit cancellations are shown for the infrared div ergences that appeared in the previously calculated hadronic annihilat ion decay rates of P-wave and D-wave heavy quarkonia. We extend them t o a more general case that to leading order in upsilon(2) and next-to- leading order in alpha(s), the infrared divergences in the annihilatio n amplitudes of color-singlet Q (Q) over bar((2S+1)L(j)) pair can be r emoved by including the contributions of color-octet operators Q (Q) o ver bar[(2S+1)(L-1)(J')], Q (Q) over bar[(2S+1)(L-3)(J'')], ... in NRQ CD. We also give the decay widths of D-3(J)-->LH at leading order in a lpha(s).
