G. Schultekorne et al., FAMILIAL AGGREGATION OF SPELLING DISABILITY, Journal of child psychology and psychiatry and allied disciplines, 37(7), 1996, pp. 817-822
This study examined the familial aggregation of spelling disability in
a sample of 32 German school-aged children and their relatives. The i
nfluence of two different diagnostic criteria (low-achievement criteri
on, and regression-based IQ-discrepancy criterion) on the rate of affe
ctedness was investigated. Results revealed that 52.3-61.9% of the sib
s and 26-34% of the parents were spelling disabled. Little evidence wa
s found for an influence of the diagnostic criterion on the rate of af
fectedness. Copyright (C) 1996 Association for Child Psychology and Ps
