We report on Fe71Pt29 thin films which are prepared by co-evaporation
of Fe and Pt onto quartz substrate at room temperature. Fe71Pt29 films
exhibit after annealing up to 870 K an ordered L1(2)-structure as obt
ained by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TE
M) and high resolution electron microscopy (HREM). Moreover, magnetic
measurements reveal that the annealed Fe71Pt29 thin films have the sam
e magnetic properties as ordered Fe71Pt29 bulk alloys. Surprisingly, a
lso the as-prepared Fe71Pt29 films show the same magnetic behavior as
the annealed Fe71Pt29 films, which suggests that 'already' the as-prep
ared films are in the ordered state.
