W. Kratz et al., AN AC METHOD FOR MEASURING THE SPECIFIC-HEAT OF SMALL PROBES AND AN APPLICATION IN THE STUDY ON GD2O2SO4, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 161, 1996, pp. 249-254
A highly sensitive dynamical method is described which allows specific
heat measurements on samples of small masses (below 1 mg) not only as
a function of temperature but, in particular, also as a function of f
ield. An ac current produces an oscillating temperature of the sample.
From its amplitude and phase the specific heat can be calculated. The
method is tested in a study on gadolinium oxisulphate Gd2O2SO4, to de
termine the phase diagram in the vicinity of its Neel temperature.
