Abstract
Induced gain may appear when a semiconductor is submitted to an intens e monochromatic pump beam tuned below the exciton resonance. Because o f the Coulomb interaction between excitons, the gain coefficient stron gly departs from the dressed-atom value to which it reduces in the lim it of very large detunings. We give the leading corrections to the lar ge detuning expansion, in the case of two and three dimensions. Copyri ght (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
