Abstract
The paper highlights principal geodynamic phases for cyclic developmen t of Vietnam's continental shelf, Accounting to the proposed geodynami c model, a shelf tectonics principal diagram was built. Widespread rif ts ore a typical feature of the area. It was concluded that crystallin e basement noses and terrigenous Oligocene and Miocene strata could be commercially feasible in this offshore area.
