Abstract
Callus could be induced from the leaf and root of the celery regenerat ed plant. The somatic embryogenesis frequency of the callus induced fr om the leaf of the regenerated plant was about three-fold as high as t hat of callus induced from the F1 celery plant. On the other hand, cal lus induced from the root of the regenerated plant showed a low embryo formation frequency. There was no significant difference in the morph ology between the regenerated plant using the callus induced from the F1 celery plant and the regenerated plant using the callus induced fro m the leaf of the regenerated plant.
