Abstract
The structure of the Tinnitus Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ) is exa mined in a sample of 108 tinnitus sufferers. Factor analysis of the TC SQ items identified two coping styles that were termed ''effective cop ing'' and ''maladaptive coping.'' It is shown that ''maladaptive copin g,'' but not ''effective coping,'' is related to reports of subjective tinnitus severity and emotional distress. The clinical implications o f these findings are discussed. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science In c.
