The effect of base current on the relationship between reference and o
utput voltages in a bandgap voltage reference circuit is considered. T
he modifications developed to compensate for this influence in a stand
ard reference circuit are described. The compensation is achieved by m
easuring the collector current of one of the transistors, creating a p
ositive temperature coefficient current and introducing a p-channel cu
rrent doubler in the base circuit of the measuring transistor. The sim
