Abstract
The derivation of the Wolfenstein form of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskaw a matrix (V) over cap from exponential parametrization is discussed. I t is proved that at order lambda(3) a one-to-one correspondence exists between the Wolfenstein parameters and the entries of matrix (A) over cap that generates (V) over cap. The importance of exponential parame trization in generating mass matrices is analysed. The usefulness of t he entries of (A) over cap in analysing the experimental data is also discussed.
