Abstract
Since the EU eco-audit ordinance has come into force about one year ag o enterprises may undergo an eco-audit; those having passed the examin ation are entitled to-the eco-audit embleme to document their activitr es for environmental protection. The ordinance provides for the follow ing activities: development of an eco-policy paper, conduction of envi ronmental studies, preparation of an eco-programme, installation of an eco-management system, undergoing an eco-audit, preparation of an eco -declaration, and certification. Enterprises benefit from the eco-audi t system in many respects, including savings of cost and enhanced comp etitive strength.
