Organochlorine pesticide residues and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
were determined in a total of 31 samples of human milk collected in t
he Rijeka Clinical Hospital. The levels of organochlorine compounds (O
CC) found are the lowest, while the PCBs content highest ever detected
in breast milk samples analysed in Croatia. No statistically signific
ant difference was found in group comparison regarding mothers' age, p
arity, residence, smoking habits, weight gain during pregnancy and fat
content of human milk.
