Th. Leek et al., THE TIME RESPONSE OF AN ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUID IN A HYDRODYNAMIC FILM, International journal of modern physics b, 10(23-24), 1996, pp. 3343-3355
The work is a practical investigation of an electro-rheological fluid
in a hydrodynamic film using a Rayleigh step bearing in which a step e
lectric field is applied across the fluid film. A number of different
bearings are used and all data presented is for the repeatable conditi
on of zero net flow rate. Earlier work on steady state conditions is e
xtended to high speed data logging of the pressure generation response
to DC step excitations of various magnitudes.
