Abstract
Tissues and dissociated cells from various organs of the shrimp Penaeu s vannamei, as well as embryos of P. indicus, were cultured in differe nt media. Cell outgrowths were observed with ovaries, epidermal regene ration buds, and embryos. Optimal results, i.e., a survival for severa l months, were obtained in M199-based medium for ovaries and embryos, and in Grace's medium for regeneration buds. In every case, a 10% feta l bovine serum supplement was needed.
