Abstract
We reviewed studies that investigate the effects of teaching study tac tics in situations where students could choose whether to use those st udy methods in everyday courses. Research was sparse; among studies th at meet rigorous criteria, none investigated whether students could ad apt study tactics beyond the training context. We withhold strong reco mmendations in favor of tentative implications for research and practi ce.
