In this paper, a FE simulation method for a forging system considering
both the workpiece and die is introduced in detail. This method adopt
s a multi-substructure technique, and reasonably, describes the coupli
ng of the workpiece: and the die during the forging procedure. It not
only simplifies the calculation, but also provides a convenient servic
e for process CAD by means of FE simulation. It hits been used in a ge
neral finite element program MAFAP(Mass Forming Analysis Program) for
forging. The basic equation and some examples are given.
