Abstract
86 patients with acute transmural and macrofocal myocardial infarction received combined treatment which included standard therapy (thrombol ytic drugs, beta-blockers, APP inhibitors, nitrates, aspirin) and anti oxidant trimetasidine. The addition of the latter was beneficial: the size of the myocardial lesion was limited, electrical unstability of t he heart attenuated, early dilatation of the left heart prevented.
