N. Vivas et al., DETERMINATION OF THE COMPOSITION OF COMMERCIAL TANNIN EXTRACTS BY LIQUID SECONDARY-ION MASS-SPECTROMETRY (LSIMS), Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 72(3), 1996, pp. 309-317
The composition of various commercial tannin extracts were determined
by liquid secondary ion mass spectrometry (LSIMS). Spectra were obtain
ed directly from tannin extracts without any pre-separation. Eight dif
ferent tannin powders were analysed: three gallotannins (Chinese, Turk
ish, tara), three ellagitannins (sweet chestnut, pendunculata oak, ses
sile oak), one mixed hydrolysable tannin (myrabolans) and one proantho
cyanidin (grape seeds). This method enabled the main molecules in thes
e powders to be identified.
