The complexations of the 13-group metals (Ga-III, In-III, and Tl-III)
with rophenyl)azo]-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonate(hpaq) were studied.
In Ga-III-complexation, hpaq coordinates to Ga-III to form a yellow co
mplex through a fast process and then this yellow complex slowly chang
es to a red complex. The rate constant of the slow process is independ
ent of the experimental Ga-III concentration, indicating the presence
of a linkage isomerism. In the cases of In-III- and Tl-III-complexatio
ns, no linkage isomerism was observed. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Sci
